What is a site disclosure policy and why is it important?
A site disclosure (at least in this case) states, in relatively clear and simplistic terms, a definition of how your site (or blog) will be used and if there might be any bias. This is important to make sure the web maintains some accountability and clarity in regards to these issues, particularly when referencing blogs. “By disclosing the purpose of a blog, bloggers are letting readers know more about the information they'll be reviewing.”
I was recently presented with an interesting site that essentially helps you to build a site disclosure policy for your site/blog in a straight, simple, easily understood way. DisclosurePolicy.org is a great tool that allows you (the site admin or owner) to create a disclosure without the need for a lawyer or technical jargon. I found it pretty darn intuitive and easy to understand. I would venture to guess that it took me less than five minutes to complete the entire process.
So, if you have even mild interest in the subject… why not just get right down to it and try it for yourself?
