True or False: “In space, if unprotected pieces of metal touch each other, they stick
together permanently.”
Believe it or not, it's TRUE!
Somehow, I had totally missed this fact in all my years of knowing random facts.
Click Here to read more about the reasons why (I found it pretty darn interesting and sadly obvious once I understood why).

That's interesting. But it seems that metal made on Earth would already have an oxidation layer before it's taken into space, unless it was made and kept in a vacuum the whole time before it left Earth.

You are right. I was wondering the very same thing. It's handily 'not-mentioned' in the article directly, but I certainly would assume oxidation would occur the instant the metal was forged… but they say that all tools have to be coated in plastic, or they stick together??
Maybe it has something to do with the speed at which the metal oxidizes, or perhaps the oxidation wears off in a vacuum somehow.
I really need to research this more. I'll try to post what i find out.
